Discussion and possible action to approve an emergency purchase order for SimplexGrinnell to replace the existing Fire Alarm Control Panel at the Webb County Justice Center in an amount not to exceed $144,437.00 and further authorizing the approval of a Discretionary Exemption under the Texas Local Government Code, Section 262.024 (a)(2). [Requested by Jose Luis Neira, Building Maintenance Director; Account #1001-1100-001-443000-255 (Repairs & Maint. Justice Center)] Issue: The current fire alarm panel system for the Justice Center Building is not operable. In addition, the fire panel is obsolete and no parts are available to repair system. The fire alarm panel is an important system that provides occupants and visitors of the Justice Center with prompt warning in the event of a fire. It also provides security measures for emergency doors to prevent security breaches and other access control measures. Solution: Authorize an emergency purchase order as per State law and secure immediate services to replace with a new fire alarm panel. Result: Comply with regulatory building code. Modernize the Fire Alarm Panel System for the Webb County Justice Center.
